I have improved myself as a person
I have improved myself as a person in many aspects throughout the course of Global History 2. I feel as though I have especially grown in my ability to put myself in the perspective of others. This is an important skill to have considering it allows for someone to understand the situation better if each perspective is understood. In many projects I was challenged to talk or write from a different perspective and I have learned that in every situation or worldly problem, there are multiple sides to the story. When focusing on World War 2, I was required to understand many perspectives of the firebombing in Tokyo and the Atomic bombs. This was quite difficult because many American sources will tell how positive the event was and helpful in ending the war. I had to look further into the bombing to realize how the Japanese felt regarding all the bombing. Once looking deeper, I was able to realize how terrible the bombing were and really felt for Japanese who had to suffer through the extreme heat and radiation. Also, this made me understand how opposite views can be even regarding the same situation. Opposing perspectives were also seen in the Cold War. Towards the end of the course we had to create a class project in which we had to show the two main opposing perspective, America and the Soviets. This also changed my view greatly on the Cold War because I learned a few of the reasons in which Russia disagreed with the United States and their views. Overall, I improved as a person because I can now see the many levels of a story and how much different perspectives can affect a story.
I choose to incorporate both the WII and Cold War projects as examples because these were two projects which broadened my perspective on the events and rest of the world. Although I had previous knowledge of the wars, after global two I feel as though my understanding has broadened as I am able to focus on many different perspectives.
